Washington Park Tennis Club is a public tennis club dedicated to providing its members with good tennis and a social environment.  Members play various USTA (United States Tennis Association) leagues and participate in WPTC sponsored events.  The club operates out of Washington Park in Denver, Colorado and through the years has contributed time, money and equipment to maintain the courts and the surrounding areas.

The club was founded in May of 1965.  The first club roster was made up of seven women and fifteen men and was printed on a single sheet of notebook paper.  At that time there was no board of directors and no club officers.  In 1966, Darrel Reed was elected President and the club grew to 44 members.

By 1973, the club had 280 members, but only six courts.  The first annual Mountain Tennis Weekend Trip was planned that year and 40 members, chosen by their ladder standings, attended the weekend.

Currently, membership fluctuates between 300 to 500 members.  A board of directors volunteer their time to oversee the operations of the club.  The board members elect the officers.  There are seven courts and WPTC keeps them busy with leagues, summer social events and tournaments.
