  • March 14, 2020 10:38 AM | VP WPTC (Administrator)

As you may have heard by now, USTA National issued a statement on March 13th to all USTA Members that they have suspended all USTA-sanctioned events (leagues and tournaments included) through April 20, 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

    Socials

    March 21st Social

    • WPTC is following USTA/CTA's lead and is cancelling the March Social.
    • All registrants will receive a full refund.

    Summer Socials

At this time, we are making no changes to our schedule for Summer Socials. As the situation evolves, we will adjust accordingly.

    USTA/CTA Leagues

Each league is impacted differently so please read the details carefully for each of them as they apply to you.

    Trio League

CTA Trio league season is cancelled for 2020 and registration on TennisLink has been stopped.

    Refunds

    • WPTC will give Captains a full refund of their team fee - $170.
    • Additionally, for individual registrations made on TennisLink, CTA will be issuing a refund check to each team’s captain.
    • Captains are responsible for dispersing refunds to their individual players for both the individual player registrations as well as each player’s portion of the team fee.

    USTA Mixed 18+ League

The suspension of league play affects 3 out of 7 weeks. At this time, the league will be shortened to a 4-5 week season.

Opting In or Out & Refunds

All registered teams/players have the option to opt-out of the league and receive a full refund.

    • USTA/CTA will be emailing captains directly and require a response to taylor@coloradotennis.com by March 17.
    • Each captain needs to decide whether to retain your team and play a shortened season or opt-out the entire team.
    • If your team chooses to continue, captains also need to identify and communicate to USTA/CTA the individual player names who want to opt-out.
    • If you decide to cancel your team's participation entirely, please notify Patricia Robertson at leagues@washparktennisclub.com and she will request a WPTC Team League Fee refund for you.
    • For those teams that choose to continue, WPTC will wait until after April 20 to make any decision about handling any team fee refunds.
Captains will be responsible for dispersing refunds to their individual players for the individual player registrations as well as each player’s portion of the team fee.

USTA Adult 18+ League (season April 20 - June 4)

Currently, the suspension only impacts one day of the league season…4/20.

    • Matches that would initially be scheduled on 4/20 will be considered a floating match (reschedule on your own).
    • USTA/CTA will be working under the assumption that league play will resume 4/21 and they will be able to provide teams a 6-7 week season.

Opting In or Out & Refunds

All registered teams/players have the option to opt-out of the league and receive a full refund.

    • USTA/CTA will be emailing captains directly and require a response to taylor@coloradotennis.com by March 20.
    • Each captain needs to decide whether to retain your team or opt-out the entire team.

Captains will be responsible for dispersing refunds to their individual players for the individual player registrations as well as each player’s portion of the team fee.

WPTC will continue to monitor USTA’s direction concerning league activities taking place after April 20.

If you have any questions concerning leagues, please contact Patricia Robertson by email at leagues@washparktennisclub.com
