What is the Washington Park Tennis Club?
WPTC is a public tennis club dedicated to providing its members with a good tennis and social environment. Its members play in the various USTA leagues and WPTC sponsored events such as: summer and winter socials, tournaments, and the Mountain Tennis Weekend.
How do I join?
We are always happy to have new members. To join WPTC simply go to the Membership Form and sign up. For more information email us.
How much are the annual membership fees?
$32 per person annually. Membership runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31.
What are the benefits of membership?
Tournaments: Held twice a year in the spring (Memorial Day weekend) and fall (Labor Day weekend).
USTA Leagues: All participants must be current members of WPTC, current members of USTA and have a current NTRP rating (which can be self rated if you have never played USTA). Team league fees range from $145 to $175 per team for the adult league including court fees. The individual cost will be determined by the number of players that are registered for each team.
Socials: There are summer and winter socials all year round (typically held on Saturdays). Summer socials are held at Wash Park and winter socials are held indoors at the Colorado Athletic Club Monaco.
Mountain Tennis Weekend: Traditionally held in September. WPTC reserves condos and tennis courts. Member cost is less than nonmembers. Although the location may vary, it is typically held in Vail, CO.
Newsletter: E-mailed to each member once a month.
Club Roster: Online list of current WPTC members contact information and their respective ranking. (Members Only)
Board meetings: Board vacancies are published in the monthly newsletter. Meetings are open to all members.
Member Ladders: A wide variety of ladders at all levels allows you to contact and play other members of the WPTC.
What are USTA Leagues? Who can play? What level do you have to be?
USTA leagues are tennis leagues that play from spring to fall. The leagues are open to all player levels from 2.5 to 5.0. The league formats consist of mixed doubles, men, women, seniors, twilight, super seniors, and more recently, team tennis. See League Play for more details.
What is NTRP Rating?
The nationals tennis rating program is established as a way of defining the skill levels of different tennis players. It ensures fairness, in that it matches people of like skill levels in competition with each other.
Did you know?
Steffi Graf won her first major title, the French Open, in 1987. In 1988 she captured the Grand Slam (Australian, French, and U.S. opens and Wimbledon), becoming the third woman to do so, and won the Olympic singles gold medal.
Before retiring in 1999, Graf held the top world ranking a record 186 consecutive weeks in 1987-91 (and a record 377 weeks in all). She won 22 Grand Slam singles titles: four Australian Opens, six French Opens (the last in 1999), seven Wimbledon titles, and five U.S. Opens.
